Tens of thousands of creators have used Lens Studio to create, publish, and share incredible 2D and 3D experiences on Snapchat, one of the biggest and most active AR platforms to date. With the platform’s 70 million daily active Lens users, Snapchat’s quickly become the best place for artists and designers to showcase their work in AR and bring their creations to life.
Whether you’re an illustrator, modeler, or animator, you can use Lens Studio to create augmented reality experiences of all kinds. It can be as easy as taking artwork you’ve already created, and importing it into one of our Lens Studio templates.
Lens Studio supports FBX and OBJ files, which lets you seamlessly import models you’ve already created into the software. Lens Studio also supports physically based rendering with material support for normal map, specularity, metallic, roughness, and ambient occlusion. Additionally, they’ve partnered with Allegorithmic to integrate the Lens Studio workflow into the Substance Painter tool. All you need to do is select “Lens Studio” in Substance Painter’s export options to bring it into the Lens Studio software.
Once you publish your Lens, you’ll receive a Snapcode and a link that you can publicize on your website, social media, and wherever else you want to show off your work. Snapchatters can scan the Snapcode with the Snapchat camera or tap the link to unlock your Lens and experience your creation. Already, over 30,000 Lenses have been submitted, generating over a billion views in just the past few months.
Lastly, Snapchat will be highlighting its favorite artist and developer-created Lenses with a Lens-focused Story on Discover, Snapchat’s content section. Millions of Snapchatters visit Discover every day, and they can unlock the Lenses they see in Stories by swiping up.
You can download Lens Studio for both Mac and PC at lensstudio.com. Can’t wait to see what you’ll create!
